What is a Graph Database?

How Graph Databases can be used to support Roadmapping of business processes and applications

A graph database is a database that uses graph structures with nodes, edges, and properties to represent and store data.

  • Nodes are things (people, places etc.)
  • Edges are the relationship between them

The graph relates the data items to a collection of nodes and edges, the edges representing the relationships between the nodes.

The relationships allow data to be linked together directly and, in many cases, retrieved with one operation.

Querying relationships is fast because they are perpetually stored in the database.

Relationships can be intuitively visualized using graph databases, making them useful for heavily inter-connected data.

In SAP / ERP / Roadmapping

FusionGraph is our visual roadmapping platform that enables ERP customers to map out how they use ERP, how it impacts their business and how to plan the implementation of new features on their roadmap.

FusionGraph is unique due to the architecture of the data within it. Being built on an interactive graph database platform enables complex relationships to be modelled and interrogated.

It’s designed to simplify business, IT and ERP transformations by allowing organisations to:

  • Visualise their people, processes, technology and data to create the clarity and foundation to support their transformations.
  • Explore what’s new and changed in S/4HANA based on current usage so they can create an S/4 business case and migration roadmap.
  • Use industry specific process frameworks & KPIs to map their future business processes and requirements using industry best practices.
